Maya Dance Theatre
Established in 2007, Maya Dance Theatre (MDT) develops productions that blend Asian dance traditions, particularly Bharatanatyam, with contemporary movement to explore social issues and shared human experiences. Its works have the common theme of collaboration, engaging the community and storytelling that invites reflection between artist and audience. In 2018, MDT extended its inclusive practice through the founding of the Diverse Abilities Dance Collective (DADC), a community initiative that brings together persons with disabilities and professional artists to co-create and perform. Through performance-making and shared creative processes, MDT continues to contribute to Singapore’s arts landscape while advocating for inclusion and social awareness through dance.
